Red snapper, a succulent and popular fish to eat, boasts a mild yet slightly sweet taste. Compared to many other fish, snapper has a less “fishy” flavor. Because of its mildness, it can please even picky eaters. The meat is lean, moist, and firm, making it adaptable to a variety of recipes. For example, you can bake, fry, broil, sauté, or even grill the fillets or the whole fish. Additionally, it is low in calories and fat, making it a wonderful addition to any diet.

Fishermen generally find red snappers 30-620 feet deep in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and along the eastern coast of the Americas. Consumers can purchase them year-round since the harvest is sustainably managed with size and catch limitations. Furthermore, red snapper’s diet of fish, crabs, worms, octopus, and squid gives it a mild yet sweet, and almost nutty flavor.

You can pair red snapper with sides like roasted vegetables, pineapple salsa, grilled asparagus, cilantro lime rice, and mashed potatoes. Lighter wines such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, or Chardonnay pair especially well with the delicate flavors of red snapper.

Storing your Fresh Catch product:
Fresh seafood should be transferred to a refrigerated environment upon receiving and consumed or frozen within 2-3 days. Any seafood received frozen should be kept frozen until ready for preparation. Items can be stored frozen for up to 12 months but are best if consumed within 6 months of purchase.

Best Practices For Thawing Seafood:
The best way to thaw frozen seafood is to remove the product from the original packaging, place it in a plastic bag, and allow it to thaw in the refrigerator for about 6 hours. If you require faster thawing, we recommend placing the product into a non-vacuum sealed bag and placing it under cool running water for around thirty minutes to an hour.
