Atlantic halibut is the largest known flatfish, with the IGFA world record sitting at a whopping 418-pound catch! This is plain to see in the dense, rich meat of halibut. Halibut is also very closely related to flounder; probability says you’ll like one if you’re a fan of the other! You’ll typically find one of three varieties of halibut: Atlantic, Pacific, or Greenland! There are many fish commonly mis-identified as halibut: unsurprisingly, several of them are flounder! You can trust that you’re getting the proper product from Mayport C&C Fisheries!

Storing your Fresh Catch product:
Fresh seafood should be transferred to a refrigerated environment upon receiving and consumed or frozen within 2-3 days. Any seafood received frozen should be kept frozen until ready for preparation. Items can be stored frozen for up to 12 months but are best if consumed within 6 months of purchase.
Best Practices For Thawing Seafood:
The best way to thaw frozen seafood is to remove the product from the original packaging, place it in a plastic bag, and allow it to thaw in the refrigerator for about 6 hours. If you require faster thawing, we recommend placing the product into a non-vacuum sealed bag and placing it under cool running water for around thirty minutes to an hour.
